I’m a tech industry recruiter turned career coach. I find great purpose and fulfillment through helping job seekers navigate tough interview processes and ultimately landing offers at top tier companies.
I'M LAUREN TAGUE
I’m here to give you the “recruiter inside-scoop” and help accelerate the job hunt process for you, while feeling more confident, empowered and joyful along the way. Let’s do this!
I’ve held many job titles over the course of my working life. Babysitter, Cocktail Waitress, Recruiter, Manager, Hair Stylist, Bartender, Mama, Coach, you get the idea. It’s fair to say I have explored many career paths and experienced many highs (and some lows) along the way. I’ve successfully navigated the corporate maze of career progression and have reached a place where I feel compelled to share this knowledge and experience with those on a similar journey, or just starting out. In a world that’s constantly evolving, I like having options. And I want you to have options too. Lot’s of them!
I had spent the last three years working my way through a challenging apprenticeship program at a high-end salon in San Francisco. I was nearing completion, with the dangling carrot promise of a coveted position as “hair stylist” so close I could almost taste it.
And yet, the carrot didn’t sound appealing anymore. My priorities and goals had shifted. My tastes had changed. This “dream career” I had worked so hard to build was no longer what I wanted.
I was a mix of anxiety and excitement about what would happen next. I knew what was most important to me in the next chapter was creating a life that felt fulfilling holistically, on many levels. To have work become an integrated part of my life, not engulf the whole of my being. I knew I wanted to start a family in the near future and I needed a career path that would support that desire, physically, spiritually, and financially.
So, I embarked on three months of solo travel and soul-searching. Brazil, Ecuador, and a four day hike through the jungle in Colombia, led me to the decision that I wanted to try and see if I could get back into recruiting.
I returned to SF filled with drive and passion and got two job interviews lined up which resulted in a job at Coinbase, then a little known crypto startup based in San Francisco. To summarize quickly, my career (and life) accelerated at Coinbase to say the least!
I went from sourcer to full-cycle recruiter, then was promoted to Senior Recruiter, and finally a Recruiting Manager coaching a team of 3 recruiters and 4 sourcers myself. All in the matter of three and a half years! I bled Coinbase blue. I thought this was it for me and I had no intention of leaving. I got to experience them going fully remote in 2020 (and moved back to my hometown in SD), going public in 2021 (one of the most exciting days of my life), and then in 2022…!!! I was laid off.
What?? Did you see that one coming? I sure didn’t. But I have also come to realize that my story is not even close to unique these days. Many, many hard working, deserving people have seen their life turned completely upside down from a layoff.
If this is you, I see you. I feel your pain. I validate your emotions. I know the heartache that comes with losing a job you love. Or losing a job you hate. But I also am here to tell you that the best is yet to come. This negative event, whatever it is, will not define you. It will make you stronger, more creative, more resilient, and hopefully even more fulfilled. You might even look back one day and feel it was the best thing that ever happened to you. I know I do.
It is through this hard experience that I discovered what truly lights me up inside. I found soul-purpose in coaching others on their unique career journeys. I aim to be of service and support you through the ups and downs of job hunting. I hope working together makes the whole process a little less stressful and a whole lot more fun. You’re doing great. Keep going!

Enjoying the passing of time with this sweet little family of mine is my number one priority in life.
Playing with hair has been one of my favorite things to do since I was a kid!
I’m born and raised in San Diego and try to go to the beach at least once a week! I love that my kids get to grow up near the ocean just like I did.
